5 Free Design Tools to add to your arsenal

As a web designer/developer, you need to have the ability to weather any storm; you have to be able to adapt, and some projects are not as smooth and simple as others. So, in today’s Bulletin post I’m going to give you a list of free web design tools that will assist you in your career, current project or in your hobby.

1. Canva

While it isn’t strictly a web design tool, it is a big help. Canva is an open, online graphics design application that allows you to create business cards, infographics, brochures, newsletter designs, flyers, and more. 2. Google Web Designer

Google Web Designer is a HTML5-based motion graphics design application that you download to your desktop, and it supports integration with other useful Google applications such as Google Drive, Display & Video 360, and Google Ads. This is a great application to use if you don’t have a lot of experience in using CSS and JavaScript, and one that can save masses of time.

3. Checkbot

Checkbot allows you to perform a full SEO audit of your website, and you can find it for free on stores like the Chrome store and add it to your extensions for easy access. What’s also really neat is that if you copy (Ctrl +C) a website URL into your clipboard and click the Checkbot extension icon, it will auto fill the URL field.

4. Bootstrap

Bootstrap is a CSS and JavaScript framework that was developed by the engineering team at Twitter. The aim of this framework was to reduce the amount of coding needed while still producing amazing websites, and this is a great application for those who may be just starting out in web design

5. GIMP

GIMP or GNU Image Manipulation Program is a free, open-source photo editor that can be run on Windows, macOS and Linux. GIMP looks obsolete when you meet the interface, but don’t be fooled, it is capable of a lot. In fact, we’d go as far to say it is as capable as Photoshop, and that is a big statement to make.
